How it works

We Like 2 Move It connects people who need something moved with people already heading that way. Here's the whole thing, step by step.

1

Post

Tell us what needs moving and where.

2

Bid

Movers heading that way bid. You pick one.

3

Move

We hold the money safely until it's delivered.

For senders

Sending something

  1. 1

    Post your move

Sign in and hit Post a Move. Add a photo or two, describe the item, set the pickup and drop-off addresses, choose your timing, and (optionally) a max budget. Posting is free.

  2. 2

    Bids roll in

Movers already heading your way place bids — each one shows their price, vehicle, and the day/time they can do it. They appear in the Bids panel on your move.

  3. 3

    Pick a mover and pay

Choose the bid that works for you — price isn't everything, look at the vehicle and timing too. You pay securely through Stripe. Your money is held safely; the mover isn't paid yet.

  4. 4

    Follow along

Once a mover is picked, they check in as the job moves: on the way, picked up, delivered — often with a photo. You'll see a live timeline on the move.

  5. 5

    Confirm delivery

When your item arrives in the condition you expected, confirm delivery. That releases the held payment to the mover.

  6. 6

    Leave a review

Rate how it went. Reviews are blind — neither side sees the other's until you've both submitted, so they stay honest.

  7. 7

    Keep your receipt

Every completed move has a tax invoice / receipt you can view and print or save as a PDF.

For movers

Moving something

  1. 1

    Find a move

Browse Find a Move. Filter by region, vehicle type, and item value to spot jobs that suit a trip you're already making.

  2. 2

    Connect your bank

Before your first bid, do the one-time payout setup in My Account. It's handled by Stripe — your bank details never touch our system — and it's how we pay you.

  3. 3

    Place a bid

On a move you can do, enter your price, your vehicle, and a date/time window. Choose how long the bid stays open. You can withdraw it any time before it's accepted.

  4. 4

    Get accepted

If the sender picks your bid, the job is yours and the exact pickup and drop-off addresses unlock. The sender has already paid — the money is held safely for you.

  5. 5

    Check in as you go

Mark on my way, picked up, and delivered as you reach each stage — add a photo if it helps. It keeps the sender informed and builds trust.

  6. 6

    Get paid

Once the sender confirms delivery, Stripe pays out to your bank — usually within 1–2 working days.

  7. 7

    Leave a review

Rate the sender. Like sender reviews, it's blind until you've both submitted.

Common questions

Is my money safe?

Yes. When you pay for a move, the money is held securely by Stripe — it isn't released to the mover until you confirm the item has been delivered.

What does it cost?

Posting a move and receiving bids is free. When you accept a bid, a platform fee of 10% of the bid is added (minimum $1, maximum $100). You see the full total before you pay.

Can I change my move after posting?

You can edit a move's details right up until the first bid arrives. After that, details are locked so quotes stay fair — if you need a major change, cancel the move and post a fresh one.

How do movers get paid?

Movers do a one-time bank setup through Stripe. After the sender confirms delivery, the payout lands in the mover's bank account, usually within 1–2 working days.

What if something goes wrong?

Don't confirm delivery if your item hasn't arrived or isn't right — the payment stays held until it's sorted. Formal dispute handling is on the way; in the meantime, get in touch and we'll help.

What areas do you cover?

We're currently moving things around Otago and Canterbury, and growing from there. You can still post a move anywhere — it just needs a mover heading that way.

Is there insurance?

Insurance for damaged-in-transit items is coming soon. For now, set an honest estimated value and use the special-requirements field for anything fragile.
